The Technical Director serves as a technical expert representative across teams, clients, and the energy storage industry. Interface directly with product manager, sales team and technical team to identify, develop, and formulate electrolytes for use in the manufacture of primary and secondary lithium batteries. Manage and develop field Technical Service group to improve information gathering and commercial formulation success rate. Identify & develop electrolyte additives to increase the performance of lithium batteries (i.e. overcharge protection, low / high temperature applications, flammability suppressors, etc.). Monitor and report technology trends in the area of electrochemical energy management devices.
This position requires:
- Ph.D. in electrochemistry
- 7 years minimum industrial experience with lithium ion batteries
- Lab experience with electrochemical measurements (analytical, applications)
- Lab experience with air-sensitive and moisture-sensitive reactions and processes
- Experience with computers systems (i.e., design of experiments, molecular modeling)
- Several years experience with fluorine and / or lithium chemistry
- Design and synthesis of lithium salts, ionic liquids, battery additives, ionic/electronic conductive polymeric materials and membranes
- 7 years minimum management of high level technical personnel
- Strong integrity
- Must be fluient in spoken and written Chinese
- Must have proven and demonstrated verbal and written English skills in a team environment

Sales Manager, Japan
We have an opportunity to manage our Energy Storage sales activities in Japan. Responsibilities include new business development, account planning, relationship building, market research and analysis, ability to understand the market and respond accordingly, demonstrated sales and marketing experience.
We require four to six years of specialty chemical sales experience , University Degree, ability to travel extensively in Japan, fluent in English, currently residing in the Tokyo area.
Process Engineer, Baton Rouge Plant
We have an opportunity for a Process/Production Engineer who will support Research & Development and Operations by performing process studies, custom project evaluations, manage and participate in plant trials, develop and manage engineering projects, and develop statistical process control activities which will lead to optimized production processes, improved yields, and lower conversion costs.
Responsibilities:
- Support product development by coordinating and supervising the internal trial process for each project. Manage in-plant technical trials by conducting pre-trial planning meetings, directing on-line manufacture of trial materials, documenting results of trials, and ensuring that trial objectives are met.
- Improve existing plant processes through troubleshooting and process evaluation. Design, implement, and oversee projects for process improvements which will optimize production processes, reduce cycle times, improve yields, reduce utilities consumption, lower conversion costs, and improve equipment reliability.
- Utilize statistical process control techniques for process evaluation. Perform FMEA studies. Evaluate product specifications and process capability. Create and monitor process documentation and specification analyses versus customer requirements. Determine and resolve problems by root cause analysis and provide recommended corrective actions.
- Prepare and update procedures, guidelines, and P&IDs. Responsible for management of change (MOC) and training/implementation of process changes. Lead and/or participate in Hazop’s and PSM revalidations.
- Develop and implement engineering projects which are necessary to maintain process safety, plant efficiency and competitive operations.
We Require:
- Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Five years of related experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and SAP
- Knowledge of Delta V, Aspentech a plus.
- Experience with operations such as distillation, reactions and separations.
Production Supervisor, Baton Rouge Plant
We have an opportunity for a Production Supervisor who will supervise the activities of operators assigned to a production unit. Also responsible to ensure that all government regulations, plant and company safety, health, operations, environmental procedures and policies are adhered to. You will also be directly responsible for meeting production schedules and ensuring that products that are made meet customer specifications.
Some of the Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring the operator’s actions to ensure compliance with all government regulations, plant and that company safety, health, operations, environmental, procedures and policies are adhered to. Initiating corrective actions as required. Filing required incident reports and participating in investigations and root cause analysis as required.
- Insure that production schedules are met and communicating to upper management any issues that effect meeting the schedule. Be proactive in anticipating issues and propose solutions. Responsible for adequate supply of raw materials are on hand and ordering stock in a timely manner. Verify material availability before releasing before releasing the process order.
- Confer with other supervisors and plant personnel to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
- Responsible for accurate production reporting in accordance with established procedures.
- Conduct physical inventories and cycle counts as required. Responsible for the accuracy of inventories and cycle counts.
- Perform activities related to Goods Issues and Goods Receipts. Responsible for stock transfer between the warehouse and unit.
- Provide timely disposition and movement of raw materials, in-process and finished product. Block customer returns and rejected finished product in the warehouse as needed.
We Require:
High School Diploma or equivalent, Post high school training in a Process Technology program (P Tec) is desirable.
- A minimum of ten years experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, including two years experience as a first line supervisor.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and SAP
- Willingness to follow all safe operating policies, practices, and procedures.
- High standards of housekeeping.
EH&S Engineer, Independence, OH
Implement and maintain local company policies adhering to local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas, and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Delivers training to employees as required. Responsible for shipping of all chemicals and materials outside of Novolyte. Ensures compliance with all shipping regulations.
We Require:
- AA or BS degree in chemistry, industrial hygiene, or engineering
- 1-2 years experience at a chemical company working in an EH&S capacity
- Experience with administration of policies that adhere to all local, state, and Federal environmental, health and safety regulations
- Experience with preparing, maintaining, and updating environmental policy and procedure manuals
- Experience with computer systems and software for administration of EH&S policies and procedures
Additional Qualifications/Experience
- Certification as Industrial Hygienist
- Familiarity with Fedex shipping procedure and the shipping of dangerous goods worldwide
- DOT shipping certification (company will provide training)
