Novolyte Reduces Local Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Novolyte has signed a long-term purchase agreement with Baton Rouge Renewable Energy LLC, a subsidiary of Illumination Renewables LLC, for a large portion of its natural gas usage to come from the Baton Rouge municipal landfill. When this project is operational in 2010, landfill gas will replace more than half of the natural gas being consumed by Novolyte. An underground pipeline will be run from the collection site at the landfill to Novolyte. The methane from this landfill is currently being flared, releasing CO2 to the environment and providing no economic benefit to the city.

The net result will be a reduction of 3,500 tons of CO2 that is currently emitted to the environment and a usage reduction of a valuable non-renewable natural resource.
