Novolyte Technologies and Aleees Sign Development and Marketing Agreement to Deliver the Total Solution for Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries
CLEVELAND, OH – OCT. 6, 2009 – Novolyte Technologies, Inc., a U.S.- and China-based producer of specialty chemicals including electrolyte solutions for the lithium, lithium ion, and ultracapacitor battery markets, announced a development and co-marketing agreement with Asia-based Advanced Lithium Electrochemistry Co. Ltd. (Aleees) to speed the development and commercialization of Aleees' LFP-NCO (lithium iron phosphate NanoCocrystallineOlivine) cathode materials. Aleees has the biggest market share of LFP in Asia. Under the agreement, Novolyte will use its material scientists and expertise in electrochemistry and enhanced electrolyte formulations development to further advance Aleees' cathode materials and will jointly provide a total solution of lithium ion batteries to both companies' customers.
The collaboration aims to meet the strong need for cost-reduced, performance-enhanced and benefit-increased energy storage solutions for customers on both sides. Aleees' LFP-NCO technology offers an inherently safe and cost-effective package that represents an innovative and compelling value proposition for energy storage applications. It is being used by Chinese battery companies that supply E-Bus vehicles in various city projects and European city EVs. Novolyte's electrolyte formulations technology provides an enhanced performance solution for lithium-ion batteries used in consumer, industrial, and automotive market applications. The companies' respective strengths in cathode and electrolyte formulations will be used in the development of new applications and markets for high-energy lithium batteries.
"The Novolyte team is very excited and honored to have Aleees as a development partner to offer the best solution of energy storage for consumer, industrial, and automotive applications," said Dr. Barry Misquitta, Vice President of Energy Storage Materials for Novolyte Technologies. "The partnership will assist greatly in our efforts to further commercialize Aleees' iron phosphate cathode technology and Novolyte lithium-ion electrolyte solutions in the Asian region."
