Novolyte offers multiple options for customers looking to replace N Methyl Pyrrolidone (NMP) in coatings and other applications. NMP has been discovered to be a reproductive toxin and many formulators will need to replace NMP. Novolyte has many lower toxicity alternatives that have successfully replaced NMP in various application. Our NMP replacement products are; Polyglyme, Ethyl Diglyme and 1,3 Dioxolane. Proglyme and Ethyl Diglyme are very stable glycol diethers, while 1,3 Dioxolane excells as a small molecule, powerful solubilizing and penetrating solvent in polymer applications. All share the same aprotic properties of NMP. You can find out more by visting our website at www.novolyte.com

Novolyte’s 1,3 Dioxolane has successfully replaced MEK in many applications due to its strong solvency and superior toxological profile. 1,3 Dioxolane is a highly polar, aprotic solvent which excels in solubilizing polar polymers such as polyesters and vinyls. In addition, 1,3 Dioxolane is completely miscible in water and common organic solvents. To find out more about 1,3 Dioxolane as a MEK replacement please visit our website at www.novolyte.com/performance-materials/high-performance-solvents/dioxolane.aspx

1,4-Dioxane is a highly polar aprotic, relatively inert solvent with outstanding stability at high pH. It is ideally suited for use in closed-loop applications such as vented reactors for the manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and fine chemicals. 1,4-Dioxane is a process and a reaction solvent.

Green Chemistry - Six Ways to Green
Novolyte Technologies takes a look at how solvent choice can make the difference in a product’s or a process’s green credentials.
The Six Ways to Green that are discussed are:
- Solvent strength
- Boiling point or evaporation rate
- Water solubility or insolubility
- Stability in the presence of aggressive reactants
- Safety in handling
- Toxicological profile
