Electrolytes for Improved Low Temperature Performance
Lithium-ion battery performance in low temperatures is critical for vehicle and space applications. Novolyte has improved LT performance by optimizing the ratios of solvents, salts, and additives in our electrolytes and adjusting them to fit particular cell chemistries.
Data in the table below show Novolyte LT electrolytes significantly improve performance versus a control under LT discharge conditions—including an almost 40% capacity improvement in -40°C discharge performance compared to room temperature. Using a similar base electrolyte, the discharge capacity at -40°C is zero.
Testing is performed in 950mAh LiCoO2/natural graphite prismatic Al can cells. Similar results can be obtained for cells containing NMC, LFP, and LMO cathode materials.
