Electrolytes are liquid blends containing one or more highly conductive inorganic salts dissolved in a mixture of several organic solvents. The most common inorganic salts for lithium batteries are LiPF6 (lithium hexafluorophosphate), LiBF4 (lithium tetrafluoroborate), LiClO4 (lithium perchlorate), and LiTFS (lithium triflate). Usually, these salts are dissolved in one or more of the following organic solvents: dioxolane, dimethoxyethane, dimethyl carbonate, diethyl carbonate, ethyl methyl carbonate, propylene carbonate, and ethylene carbonate. Other components, although added in small quantities, greatly enhance battery performance under certain operating conditions.
Novolyte electrolytes are used exclusively in:

Enhanced energy density and environmental factors have initiated the shift from Nickel - Cadmium (NiCd) or Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) to rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries. This segment of the battery market is growing rapidly, especially in Asia. Other end markets, such as power tools and hybrid electric vehicles, are developing rapidly.
