Additives for Reduced Flammability
The flammability of the electrolyte is a critical safety concern for lithium-ion batteries. Novolyte has developed formulations containing proprietary additives that can reduce or eliminate electrolyte flammability. Novolyte's J2 additive at 5–10% loading has been shown to eliminate flammability, and also to enhance both high temperature cycling at 60°C and low temperature discharge.
Results shown below are from testing performed in 950mAh LiCoO2/natural graphite prismatic cells. Similar results have been obtained for cells containing NMC, LFP, and LMO cathode materials.
