Aryl Phosphines

airbag

Novolyte is the world's leading supplier of aryl phosphinic acids, including BZPA, BZPA salts, and TOPAK, and owns composition of matter patents for a superior free flowing briquette form of BZPA. Our phosphines are used to improve products and processes or serve as building blocks for catalysts.

Improve Polymer Processing and Performance and Nylon 6,6 Production

Novolyte Phosphines contribute to producing high-performance polymers in three ways:

  • Improving the performance of polyamides - especially nylon 6,6 - while reducing processing costs
  • Improving the compatibility of polyester with other polymers
  • Functioning as specialty flame retardants with ancillary antioxidant and processing or flexibility benefits in polycarbonates and other polar polymers

Make Yarn Whiter, Brighter, and Stronger

Yarn Making with 500 to 1500ppm Novolyte Phosphines
Novolyte phosphines BZPA, NaBZPA, and TOPAK have long been used in yarn making at levels of 500–1500ppm to:

  • Increase production rates
  • Allow higher spinning temperature without yellowing
  • Decrease yarn breakage during spinning
  • Increase tensile strength
  • NEW: Use with an optical brightener to further increase whiteness (See Invista patent application US 20080090945)

Building Blocks for Catalysts

Novolyte's diphenyl chlorophosphine (DPC) is used to prepare BINAP, PhanePhos, P-Phos, BINAM, SpiroP, and other catalysts used to prepare chiral amines and alcohols. Phenyl dichlorophosphine (BPD) is used to prepare photoinitiators.
