High performance liquid crystal polymers (LCPs) may be produced from Novolyte's HNDA. HNDA stands for high purity 2,6 napthalene di-carboxylic acid.
LCPs based on HNDA are known for ease of processing, high temperature dimensional stability, and strength. Applications for LCPs produced with HNDA include:
- Electronics and electrical components
- Sensors
- Fiber optics
- Telecommunications
- High-temperature cookware
- High-strength fiber
- Coil bobbins
- Solenoids
- High performance coatings
- Packaging
Most LCPs based on HNDA have zero-flammability ratings, without the need to incorporate halogenated flame retardants which would degrade high-temperature performance.
PET containing HNDA is approved for food contact, and the PET is recyclable.
